Say what? It is very difficult to predict weather forecasts in Southern California more than 48 hours in advance,” said Dennis Moore, who has returned to his responsibilities overseeing Santa Anita track surfaces. “

As a fully accredited fake internet meteorologist and weather nerd I'd think that they could have held off a decision until Monday-Tuesday to see how much rain falls on the track up to then, and see the more accurate forecast for Thursday. It's a bit of better safe than sorry, mixed with weather hype, mixed with what they did(or didn't do) with the track surface. They don't get many 1-2" rains out there to test it and maybe they don't know how the track will drain.

I think with all the losses they have had it is a wonderful thing they are postponing races until they weather passes and track can dry... Surely part of the decision was based on trying to show they do care what happens to the horses....great PR... if a horse does go down they can show they tried.....
