Due to projections of rain from Tuesday through Thursday of next week in San Diego, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club (DMTC) announced today that its Thursday, November 21 race card has been cancelled. This action was due to “an abundance of caution,” said DMTC officials as the inclement weather likely will result in a muddy main track and soft turf course. Entries for next Thursday’s card were scheduled to be taken tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

Good point Doc. 8 races this past Thursday had a total of 50 starters. And attendance was only 2,342.

Again this week. DRF.
DEL MAR, Calif. – A severe storm forecast to hit the San Diego area the middle part of the upcoming holiday week has caused Del Mar to cancel its Thanksgiving Day card Thursday, and move stakes races scheduled for that day and Friday to 48 hours later, the track announced Sunday morning.
The Grade 3 Red Carpet Handicap, which was drawn Saturday and was part of the original Thursday card, will be brought back on Saturday and will be re-drawn with all the Saturday races on Wednesday. The Saturday card is highlighted by the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby.
Edit From DMTC
Though Del Mar’s planned Thanksgiving race card will not happen, the facility will be open for Thanksgiving Brunch – featuring turkey and all the trimmings – from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. In addition, simulcast wagering will be presented along with traditional NFL action. Wagering will be held in its usual spot in the Mission Tower building starting at 9 a.m. and going forward to approximately 2:30 p.m., with races at Golden Gate Fields along with tracks from across the country on the agenda.
Guessing there will be a special on turkey tacos next weekend.

There's a restaurant group here in Pittsburgh called Big Burrito Group. Their Flagship restaurant (in the Pitt campus area) is called Mad Mex and they are now spread across PA and into Ohio (perhaps, elsewhere, too). They have a special burrito this time of year called the Gobblerito featuring - you guessed it - Turkey. Never had one but I hear they are good.
