Big defection. DRF
Guarana, the two-time Grade 1 winning 3-year-old filly, will not race again this year, thus missing a scheduled start in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, trainer Chad Brown said Sunday. “This week in training out of her last work I just wasn’t happy the way she was moving behind,” Brown said. “I’m going to err on the side of caution and make sure she’s alright.”

I am glad Chad is doing the right thing for the horse, she's a good one, I think.
I am leaning toward Bellafina. Anyone else think she has a shot?

Cindyloujazz Re: Bellafina, on the positive side... She seems to be working very well, her best TGraph (1.5) came at the track/distance, and she has 6 weeks rest.
On the negative side... I could give her a pass for the Oaks, but the last two poor efforts are pretty puzzling. She also doesn't break well most of the time. That 1.5 top is among the slower tops in the field.

Thank you elk, for the heads up on Bellafina. Her ml odds were 15-1 before the draw and that appealed to me plus She does not run well at other tracks but is 4 for 4 at Santa Anita. After the draw ml odds dropped to 6-1. I will take a closer look now. Thanks again.

I think I’ll side with Bellafina on the cutback as this is what she wants to do. Dawn The Destroyer completes the exacta and then Spiced Perfection

Probably just going to use Spiced Perfection and move on. She finishes well at 7 Furlongs in big fields and the other faves seem likely to face a pace and traffic they aren't used to. A G1 win at this track and distance doesn't hurt Spiced Perfection either, but that really isn't a key angle in this race historically.
Selcourt as a bomber off a useful prep is my backup play. Drew the rail off a long lay off in this race last year and was way too keen and quit (surely bogged down by my win wager). May have lost a step at 5 but double digit odds and a crap shoot of a race makes her playable.
