The currant spread is Okla -11. I came up with Okla as -9.5 before adjusting the spread with home field advantage - which I figured to be about 3.5 points. This rivalry is deep seated and for some might actually feel it's personal. If Texas were to win it you can thank the "12th man" for that. I wouldn't bet this game, you never know what's going to happen but I don't think Okla will cover.
I remember how the fever pitched fans acted in the Missouri U-Kansas U rivalry that was called "The Border War" in the decades when both teams were in the now known conference as the Big 12. That rivalry was based on the happenings during the civil war - the Jawhawkers the "Redlegs" (Called that for wearing red socks) began raiding, killing and robbing towns and farms in Missouri; then William Quantrill formed his Quantrills' Raiders to retaliate and that "hatred" lasted for 100+ years.
Side note - "Wild Bill" Hickok and Buffalo Bill Cody both rode with the Jayhawkers and Ledlegs for a period of time.

Josie Wales, aka Bushwhacker Bill Wilson

The story of Bill Wilson has been told throughout the Ozark Mountains since he began his bloody career in 1861 to the present day. He is a true folk hero. The Ozarks were full of men who took to the bush and waged a single man to a small gang warfare on the union soldiers, red legs, jayhawkers and spies for the Union. Although there were a lot of these men, if someone said, “The Bushwhacker,” “The Great Bushwhacker,” or the “Famous Bushwhacker,” everyone knew that they were talking about Bill Wilson. His daring deeds are still considered miracles due to his never being wounded once. He is remembered for his superior skill with revolvers and clever tactics in surprising his enemies. The writings and movie about Josie Wales are based on the real bushwhacker, Bill Wilson.
