Standing ovation by the entire stadium! That’s how much Yaz means to Red Sox Nation. How cool is that.

Flashbacks to seeing the Yaz hit dingers out of Fenway. He was incredible and what a feel good story concerning his grandson! Yaz had such a unique batting motion. I always tried to copy the way he swung a bat.

How wonderful in a world full of animosity over so many things that there was this outpouring for Yaz’s grandson even though he was on the opposing team? If only people could learn from moments like this....

Correct, Michele. I attend high school soccer games and it floors me how some fans behave at these games. Last Saturday a guy was yelling at the refs saying he was going to vandalize the ref’s car.
Other parents were yelling at the players, telling them to get off the field if they aren’t going to hustle.

The world is not as is used to be..... no wonder the forces of the universe are trying to blow and wash us all away....

I coached kids of various ages and sports for many years and it was in a small town of 600 people. I think in smaller communities like that parents of the kids are not so bad. I think this is because in those small communities most people go along to get along..

It doesn’t hurt that the Sox are all but maybe mathematically out of playoff contention. One wonders if the ovation would’ve come had Boston been neck-and-neck for the last wild card spot. Still, I’m sure it was a special moment for the rookie. On the Giants and over tonight so I wouldn’t mind if he slugs a “granny.”

These are very small towns In the game I watched this past weekend. We are living in an angry world here in the USA, I’m afraid.
Gam, true about the game situation, that would have been interesting to see. Red Sox Nation loves their YAZ. He’s always been my personal favorite player. He could play baseball.

As the baseball season winds down I'm curious what kind of season people think it was this year. Juiced baseballs? Bigger, stronger players who hit the ball out? Harder bats (ash vs. maple)? A combination of all? What about the new rules like challenging calls? Good or bad for the game? Predictions on who plays in the World Series?

Hate to say it but I think something was more juiced this year whether it was the balls or the players.
