Come Octoder 4th I'll be lining up at the cinema to get a look at this movie that received an eight minute standing ovation when shown at Cannes Film Festival. In my view the Joker is the most popular comic book bad guy of all time. Can't wait to see this one. Could be a bigger hit than The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger to Caesar Romero to Jack Nicholson...I think this film outsells them all...

Joaquin Phoenix. I never connected him to being the brother of River Phoenix. Duh. I'll be surprised if this movie tanks. I even hear that it could do well come Oscar time. Joaquin has a history of being kinda weird anyway. He freaked out once when being interviewed for Letterman.

Takes a lot of balls to be next up after the Heath Ledger Joker. That character was an all timer. Hooper
Heath Ledger kept a chilling diary in preparation for his Oscar-winning portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Knight. The Australian actor died of an accidental overdose of a combination of prescription medications in January 2008. His journal was revealed by his father Kim Ledger in a German documentary called Too Young To Die. In it are pictures of hyenas, clowns, comic strips and photographs of Malcolm McDowell’s Alex in Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of A Clockwork Orange. “He pretty well locked himself up in a hotel room for weeks,” Kim told the filmmakers. “He galvanized the upcoming character. That was typical of Heath. He would do that. He liked to dive into his characters, but this time he really took it up a notch.”

The only other movie I remember Heath in was called A Knights Tale although I'm sure he was in more. I do recall reading the same thing you've said here Hoop. Sadly it seems like tragic deaths to many actors, especially the A list actors involve drug overdoses. I've often wondered if the director notices anything about the Heath Ledgers of the world that could tip them off something is weird. In the Dark Knights case, Christopher Nolan.
