not a bad 20 hours of music
very little rest and very little food--food shortage was a given. People were arriving from every direction. Not going to bother with the first band--Quill--not worth the effort. However the place started vibrating with this set:

Dead came on next---obviously Jerry was seriously tripping if you listen to the jams in this set. Easily the most ragged dead show for my time

Thanks for posting this...I always wondered why Zappa was not involved somehow at Woodstock. CCR is killer!

Day 2

Went to a festival @ Atlantic City Speedway a month prior--many of the same bands, and with a revolving stage. Zappa and the Mothers played. They were jazz jamming on King Kong when the stage came around, and continued that jam until the stage revolved back around. They were pretty much a horn jazz jam band at that time. They were followed by a rocking Canned Heat and a very young Joni Mitchell(who was pretty much booed off the stage for following high energy electric).
Country Joe, Santana, CCR, Sly, the Who(night's best imo) and high energy meth driven Airplane made for a beyond imagination evening that was also pretty draining while dealing with the elements. A little rest was inevitable. I believe the rain started then. Didn't want to lose my spot, so I stayed put. As Kris K would sing, "Sunday Morning coming down".
Another long session to go--survival of the fittest from here on out.....
