Bev, I really hope your not referring to the “Arming Teachers...I don’t Think so” thread as garbage. If anyone here this should be on your doorstep, and on so many fronts.(New grandson, incident in classroom in Scotland that brought about the change in Britain, and living in Florida where the latest mass shooting occurred)
I began the thread for several reasons. One, I think arming teachers is a bad idea. Two, I support the voices of the survivors asking for change(Columbine happened over twenty years ago followed by Sandy Hook...and here we are again) Where will we be in 5,10,20 years from now? We need to address the problem now.
The racing community got together last night in Broward for a fundraiser to support the survivors in a voice for change. This is a horse racing board, but more important,we are a “community” where hopefully we stand up for things that are right.

It may be on my doorstep but I prefer to keep my political and religious views to myself. Happy to contribute to Racing and Sports talk on this forum when I believe I have something worth sharing. The garbage I was referring to was the name calling that goes on in the basement which most definitely is not UpinClass. Unfortunately almost every political thread started in the basement turns into a shitfest.

What? Nothing on Tiger Woods yet? Maybe the new location will usher in a new era for the basement...no name calling in political discussions, no tiger woods bashing, spanky will win all posted bets, haggis will be seen as a delicacy and all will live happily ever after...maybe.

“Maybe the new location will usher in a new era for the basement...no name calling in political discussions, no tiger woods bashing, spanky will win all posted bets, haggis will be seen as a delicacy and all will live happily ever after...maybe.” I’m an optimist, and believe almost anything is possible….but Spanky winning “all” posted bets, well, it’s kinda like expecting an elephant to walk out on a thin pane of glass, over the Grand Canyon to do a two step...and expecting a good outcome for the elephant. Anything is possible, but the likelihood, well…(believe Spanky is betting the elephant ).....writing this while enjoying a big plate of this delicious haggis

Something interesting going back to the Obama days. Apparently Judicial Watch just discovered that Loretta Lynch was also more than just "Loretta Lynch". "As the nation’s chief law enforcement officer Lynch, Barack Obama’s second attorney general, skirted public-records laws by using the alias Elizabeth Carlisle in emails she sent from her official DOJ account. In the records provided to Judicial Watch" " to “protect her security and privacy and enable her to conduct Department business efficiently via email.”
Was this illegal in any way? Apparently it was.
"This begs the question of how many other government officials use fake names and whether those aliases are searched when agencies process Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Besides Lynch, we have only discovered the use of such aliases among government operatives to conduct official business at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Obama’s EPA administrator, Lisa Jackson, famously used the alias Richard Windsor in a government email account to conduct official business and communicate with staff. Jackson even took required EPA computer training under the fake identity with the handle Windsor.Richard@epa.gov. She eventually resigned over the scandal, which brought to light the agency’s violations of federal open-records laws.
One must wonder how many others over the years have done this. I would surmise the list might be significant with both sides of the aisle participating. If I won a lottery I think I would try to hide by real name from all the people and groups what have inundate previous winners. One thing we do know is that the primary reason many people try to hide their real name is due to them being involved in something illegal. Caveat - note that I used the adjective "many", not "all" so it wont be necessary to list other reasons people change their names.
