A horse in the 10th race broke down yesterday at Saratoga. This was the 4th horse to die since the track opened in April

The track opened for training in April. The other deaths were trying breakdowns. One horse died in his stall.

I speak for myself and my own opinion on this topic but felt a need to respond. Breakdowns are the worst part of the game we all here love. Any time we lose one horse it is a total tragedy. I wish we never had a breakdown, but again it is the worst part of our game. These are 1200 to 1500 pound animals bred to run 30 mph. Again any time we lost one it is a tragedy. We have lost 4 since April I don’t think it is an epidemic like out at Santa Anita. Plus I like to focus on all the good things this game has to offer and not on the bad. I’m sorry that we have lost 4 athletes and I hope that they can Rest In Peace again just my opinion.
