Finally a card that has some quality and good weather in the forecast for the holiday Monday. Racing starts at 1:45 mountain time. The Journal Handicap and the JetSet Handicap are the co-features on the card and are competitive races. The late Pick 4 for $1 is a good wager starting in Race 6. I'll come back tonight with a more detailed handicapping analysis.

Couple of thoughts Race 1 and 2 are probably passes of some sort. Willy Be Smart probably crushes Race 2.
Race 3 I'd take a shot on Stay Glad coming late with Unbridled Venture, should be a fast enough pace. Race 4 is wide open, I'm going to try The Intruder but about 5 of them wouldn't shock me. Race 5 has a ton of pace as well so Lucy Q and I'm Outta Here should be able to run on by, especially Lucy Q. Race 6 is the Journal Handicap and Trooper John will turn the tables on Born in a Breeze with a better trip today. Race 7 is Deadly Black Eagle loose on the lead and will be super tough. Race 8 is the JetSet Handicap and will have 3 from the Greg Tracy barn. I liked Ruffenuff the most because I think she can stalk, I'm against the BC invader who hasn't run a winning race in a long time. Race 9 I like the droppers Patrick and The Night King who have reasons to improve.
Just my two cents on what should be one of the first good days for us up here.

The $5 breakfast every day in The Derby restaurant looks like a winner. Wakie Brekkie 5 2 whole eggs fried or scrambled, hash browns, 2 slices of bacon, 2 pork sausages, choice of toast. Hooper

Nice job, Rob! Looks like the speed of the track makes it Turf Paradise or Emerald Downs of the north. Any complaints from the horsemen yet about having their horses feel their feet rattle?
Speaking of complaints...I found photos of CtM online. I know horse racing is an afterthought when building a casino/racing facility, but there's no place to watch the races outside except for the apron and it looks like you're limited to a dining room with some windows inside or just watching on tv. The lack of a glass enclosed grandstand that can open on nice days looks like it will keep people from going to the track more often.
Would love to see your opinion here if you're able to write it in public. You have my email otherwise.

Hopefully over time some of the casino profits are used to upgrade(improvements to seating and customer comfort from the elements) the facility. I think we're looking at a marathon rather then a sprint. As an ADW customer I was satisfied with what I saw. The graphics, camera angles were fine. Also nice to see a track that loads on time.(getting fed up with tracks dragging the post here)

There is a small section of grandstand seating just past the wire and there’s plans for a rooftop patio, bar, viewing area on the third floor for 2020. As for the surface it’s actually been really kind, you can dig your feet way in walking on it, the horsesmen haven’t had any issues with it. One of the big things is it is a unique configuration of a mile racetrack with 7F turns, which means the turns are tight and very quick to get around. This means that both down the backside and stretch it’s a long straight run to be at full speed.
Other things still to come are lights for night racing, though we are running at 5:55 on Thursday’s this summer with natural light because we are so far north. There’s lots of landscaping to be done around the property still. So hopefully it just keeps getting growing upon itself would be the plan.
