40 days until we see the winner (Probably Larry) holding up that giant check at the Orleans. Seemed like a good time to start a thread.
I haven't paid as much attention as I would like, who else is qualified or planning on buying in?
I'll be in about 4:00 Wednesday, and hope to make it over to registration on Wednesday night, but don't really recall how late they run registration the day before.
Last time I was there we had big contention and Debbie saved us a table. Would be great to do that again or at least have the first person on site save enough seats together as needed.
So far the UIC 2019 contingent is... Elk- Larry wrightstuff Scott Carson AE List Jack, Angelo, Otis, TC

Eric, I'm pretty sure they will close up Registration at 5:00 on Wednesday so if you are actually landing at 4:00 that could be an issue. One suggestion that other later arrivals have done in past years would be to ask Deb Flaig to place a copy of your name placard in my folder and I will secure it to a good seat at the group table. We had a great table last year that experienced considerable success not the least of which was Jack with an excellent overall 9th place finish. It was Jack and I, Wrightstuf as well as a couple of his buddies and the owner/creator of Publichandicapper, Scott Carson. We had an absolute blast and would hope for a similar group combination this year. Really looking forward to it this year!

Thanks Larry, I actually land at 3:15, but still probably cutting it close. It's awesome that Debbie is so accommodating, I'll shoot her an email.

I hope to qualify but will be in attendance regardless, flying in Monday evening. Larry is correct that registration usually closes at 5:00 on Wednesday.
I'm pretty sure Scott Carson will be there but my friends George and Darryl are staying behind for a contest at Monmouth Park.

Sounds good, Eddie. We will miss Darryl and George but we know there is room for more at the table now. Scott Carson has confirmed with Jack that he plans to buy in and hopefully Jack, Angelo, Otis, TC and others may still get there. I'm in Tuesday night but comped at the Rio until Thursday and then checking in at The Orleans for the tournament dates. I'll shuttle from the Gold Coast Wednesday morning and will hopefully see you at registration. Otherwise, that same general table area on the right just inside as we enter the Mardi Gras Ballroom would work well for us again.

I hope the table .. whomever it may be.. brings home the bacon!.. good luck guys! (And girls).

Tough loss today Wrightstuff. $0.30 out of the HPWS ticket Keep your head up bud, those close ones hurt, but you were in in the hunt. Keep doing what you're doing and stay hot, it will fall your way.

Yes indeed, Eddie! That was brutal to miss getting there by 30 cents yesterday. Despite dealing with 45 plays at $20.00 W/P over 3 days I once missed cashing at the HPWS by $1.80 in mutuel returns so I know the feeling all too well. You are handicapping well. Stay positive.

Looks like a really light racing day on Thursday. Maybe just 4 (GP,OP,GG,SA), Turfway is a 6:15 I guess CT and Pen wouldn't be much later, but that's dipping pretty low... they only had four last year, guessing they do again this year. Fairgrounds meet ends the week before this year and was one of the Thursday tracks last year. GG and HAW were not included at all last year. Seems like they will have to include GG on Thursday and probably would include if for the other days as well. Not sure if they would add HAW and have 4/8/8. was 4/7/8 last year. Thu 28

You are right, Elk. Thursday can be pretty challenging in finding a sufficient number of solid plays among our 15 options and that is even more so if multiple entries are played. I would love to turn my initial $600.00 on Thursday into $800.00 or so and then gear up for the 7-8 tracks the last 2 days. They will likely post the HPWS tracks within a week or so on the website.

SA closure could last into the HPWS, leaving possibly just 3 tracks on Thursday. May as well skip the GG card and scheudle a round of golf in the afternoon.

With limited Thursday options I do suspect an early exit poolside to begin work on Friday may be in the cards for me, Elk! Absence of ANY West Coast track in play will change the dynamics significantly time-wise! The ballroom would be a ghost town by 3:00.

Tracks for the HPWS albeit unofficial according to Deb Flaig are as follows:
Thursday March 28th
GOLDEN GATE GULFSTREAM OAKLAWN Friday March 9th TAMPA BAY LAUREL GULFSTREAM AQUEDUCT OAKLAWN HAWTHORNE Saturday March 10th TAMPA BAY LAUREL GULFSTREAM AQUEDUCT OAKLAWN HAWTHORNE
She mentioned that if Hawthorne has late post times on Friday or Saturday they will remove it from the options and in the event Santa Anita gets back running by these dates, they would add it.

Good info Larry. Interesting that they will only play GG on the short day. In other news, you may want to check your travel plans. All 737 Max 8 & Max 9's are currently grounded. My original flights out and back were on Max's, but was I able to re-book this morning. Added a couple extra hours in Vegas on both ends of the trip.

Thanks, Eric. I'm glad your itinerary change worked out. I used AA miles for a free round trip this time and knowing that they are 2nd to Southwest in flying that specific model I was concerned about it but it appears to not be an issue with my itinerary. My aircrafts are identified simply as either 319, 321 or ER4. See you on the 28th!

lol.....the planes also have been grounded all over the world as they may have a back end steering shaft problem, that cannot be controlled, and the plane dives by itself it appears, because it locks into position, as both crashed planes had the same problem found yesterday , in both accidents...and Boeing has announced they are repairing this issue on all planes they sold around the world...so driving may be the way to go...if not a train or plane...

Elk, the only likely change to what has been posted will be the absence of Santa Anita on opening day of the HPWS. As of now it appears they won't reopen there until Friday the 29th. I have never been a big fan of Golden Gate and their traditional 6-7 horse fields but I will probably have to find a couple of plays there on Thursday. It is what it is!

Thu/Fri entries drawn...
The GG Thu card has 6/9/6/7/7/9/10 entries. The penultimate race looks like an O'neil shipper will dominate the wagering, last race looks wide open and could provide some options if you make it that far with bullets left...
Safe travels everyone.
