Watching and wagering on the Pro-Am from Pebble. What a golf course. Just wondering who at UIC may have played this Southern Cali jewel. I'm pulling for Speith and of course Ryan although he's a long, long shot. I drooped ten bucks on him to win which will pay back $1,00. Bet Ryan to beat beat Paul Casey over the four rounds at even money.

I have been lucky enough to plat Pebble twice. It’s even more stunning without the hospitality tents!

Never played it but would love to. A close friend of mine's wife bought him a round of golf there several years back as an anniversary present. It wound up being especially memorable for him as he got a hole in one on number 7. They gave him the flag from the pin signed by the resident pro. He has it on display in his home. Which tops my bowling trophy from my 7th grade league.

I kind of figured Gooch had played there...cool story Shoes about the ace...a close friend is the GM of Ben E. Keith Foods here and part of hs job is entertaining big shot clients. He has taken clients to Pebble several times although he can't break 90 on our local track. Not the point I suppose...lol...Hey Gooch, Spyglass? My brother had a chance to play a round in a foursome behind Lee Trevino a seniors event and he said after teeing off on the first hole that Lee's caddy Herman took off and had failed to strap his clubs in. They flew off the cart and he said Trevino cussed Herman out in Spanish...lol...

Spank, Played Spyglass, also. And Spanish Bay. Never played Cypress--the don't let NO POLITICS on the grounds! Spyglass is harder than Pebble, but lacks the history and the famous holes that you've seen on TV so often at PB. I also think that it has more "manufactured toughness", i.e., the golf architect messing with you, rather than fitting the contours of the land, as Pebble does so well. That 7th hole 'shoes mentioned is a real jewel. The first time I played it, I hit a wedge. The second time I hit six iron into the wind, from the same tee location. p.s. This was in the 80s. It costs nearly $600 to play there now, I think.

I played Pebble once. Managed to snag one of two single times they had the day I called. Eagled the par-4 first with a 7-iron from 155. Lipped out a 15 footer for eagle on the second, tapping in for birdie. I knew it was time to call it a day at 3 under after 2 holes. :-) Wound up shooting 89 on a cold and windy day and loved every second of it. Bucket list round for me.
