I've had my best wins at GP following horses, not jockeys. Especially 1st time starters. There's blood lines there that make for good bets 2 or 3 times each year. On Sunday, we had NILESTAR in the last. A granddaghter of Society Selection. Owned by Irv Cowan, a past part owner of GP. Dad is Pioneer of The Nile. Trained by Pletcher, and ridden by Javy Castellano, breaking from the 1 post in Cowan blue and red colors, a winner at $19.80 for $2...in Larry like one final stride. this one made the meet for me. It's worth twice the price.

Agreed , the horse must be conditioned right for any given distance , but the jock who gets to ride is one the trainer or owner gets , like the Ortiz bro's because they are on top of thier game...many jocks ride for specific stables or trainers and thus have rides on bread and butter barns horses or for owners whose horses only run when in top shape and win ...these stables / owners / jocks / trainers are to be found in the top ten and rarely below a top twenty world wide ranking each year....so one might say , For the bettor, they are the bread & butter in racing...lol...The managers that get the rides for the jocks are also a very important element as some have the ' ear ' of the afore mentioned top folk in the industry...lol...

The jock mentioned had an o k day today....but has a few that he may do well with in the next days...but one would look to him in the graded races to try....but others may be better bets that run in lessor valued races."lol...just a thought...
