Stable horse Mr Brix ran in the $100,000 Frank Whiteley Stakes today at Laurel. Listed post time of 3:12. I tuned in at 3:07 and they were halfway down the backstretch! Anyway it saved me a few bucks. Finished 4th for earnings of $6,000. I've got Diddley running in the 7th at Woodbine,4:18 post. I'll be checking in earlier on that one. Hooper
$3,696 for Diddley after getting cooked in a speed duel from the rail.

Like Bev, one of my runners dropped to the basement and ran a good fourth after chasing a repeater. Sandy Mischief picked up $1,440 in that race at Parx and unfortunately was not claimed. My stable ends April with a $73,265 month and a total of $158,265.

My stable star Gotta Be Strong goes on 5/7 at Parx in a Pa-bred n1x allowance against 5 other 3yo fillies at a mile and seventy yards. A few of these faced each other in an open n1x in March. Izzadora Bella got the jump out of the gate that day and wired the field while Gotta Be Strong was off poorly and wide, wide, wide, missing the win by a length. Strega Nonna closed for third. I expect a different result on Tuesday. Both Gotta Be Strong and Strega Nonna needed the race in March and both are sharp as can be. Izzadora is going to have some company up front with the oddly spelled I'am A Unicorn while Gotta Be Strong and Nonna will track from a few lengths back. By the time they turn for home, I think it's all over but the shouting as Gotta Be Strong makes the front and Nonna moves into second while Izzadora stays for third.
Playing 1-2 and 1-2-5....and hoping Strega Nonna hasn't moved forward 5 lengths since her last start. If I'm right again about Gotta Be Strong and she runs another big race, it'll be time for Pa-bred or other small stakes after this.
While NY bred clm25000 and Parx clm5000n2y aren't as far apart as one might think, it's still enough of a drop where the trainers didn't want to get stuck with a cripple that only runs well on a wet track. I don't know what the claiming rules are at Parx when it comes to locking a horse to Parx until the end of the meeting if it's claimed, but Calculated Risker would need NY breds to go very far up the ladder. He's still eligible for the n2y level, so maybe he'll be there again in a few weeks if our rainy spring continues.
Mrs. Crews, who seems to be the only horse in my stable currently doing any racing, finished 4th in Race 8 at Pimlico today. The chart described her trip as "lead, engaged in pace battle and faded in the stretch". Her earnings increased by $1,740 to a total of $38,760.
The other two stable runners need to make some contributions also. This competition doesn't offer any prizes for dead last but tried hard.
