Not at a cost of over 400 million dollars...lol....they would need to increase track % ....lol...takeouts...lol.every where and raise prices every where....lol...they should just maintain what they have....but if any of them win a major lottery , let them invest in a losing concern...and NO TAX write offs at the public trough ...lol...let them give tax from thier profits only....lol..etc...and take any loss at thier expense....lol... Fuggedaboutit !
Went to Laurel Park a few months ago and it was amazing . Absolutely no need to spend $425m for another Maryland track for basically one race a year . Put the money towards the wall 😂

Nice to see an infield pond so the spectators in the Preakness infield will have something extra to do between races. I see there's going to be shopping there as well.
"It recommends adding amenities at the track, such as a grocery store, other shops, a hotel and townhouses."
Honey, just going out for a loaf of bread.....

maybe it is just time to let it go. they could have the preakness at a different track every year like the all star games of the nhl, nba, mlb.

Other than Preakness day, parking was never an issue.
I hate to see it go. I grew up within walking distance and could watch races from grandmom's. Working nights, I would go just about every day until the 5th as an adult. I spent a lot of time there. Right now I have the subway 15 miles away and a shuttle from there.
If they want to spend that kind of money, they need to move it. The Pimlico, and Park Heights areas have rotted over the years. The north side less so because of a solid Jewish community. I forget the distance but there are nine synagogues on P H avenue .... then cross N Parkway, a Catholic school. They have removed some of the worse buildings on the 'Catholic' side. Back in the 70's you could park on the parkway on Preakness day. No parking any day now.
This Governor seems the type to try to save the track.
But hey, they don't even race a full week (5 days). It's a weekend track now that might be open 6 weeks a year it seems. What's the point! They didn't even put slots/gambling at the tracks. Now Chucky Town is a different story. Gambling resurrected that 'hole'.
And there's someone that wanted to build a track downtown. Forget the name. Lots of ways this could go.

Laurel is great for bird watchers. There's been an eagle hanging around now and you occasionally get waterfowl in the pond. I'm not sure what that was on TV the other day.
Now the seagulls ruin that a bit ..... aerial bombs

To the left of the huge tree out near the road is where I'd watch from as a kid so coming out of the clubhouse turn, top of the backstretch.

Lol....it would cost much more than the 430 million or so after they got it started....lol....so why bother....And as far as birds are mentioned, when I was a kid , a snowy white owl nested on the roof of an apt building I lived in in , in the high park area of Toronto for a no of years...but then if one were to walk in a couple of directions for a couple of miles , one was in the country sides start.....lol...and high park still had bob cats, timber wolves, etc etc etc...well, wild life every where that still maintained them as free mammals and even snakes , grass hoppers, praying mantis , crickets, salamanders of all colours etc etc , which one is hard pressed to find any where any more, any where...so much for progress of mankind....etc...just a thought...even the chip monks are gone in high park as are the five or more different woodpeckers and the cardinals, blue jays etc etc...not to mention an all but dead Lake Ontario for fishing around Toronto without getting a sickness from eating the fish ....etc....a very sad thing this is...etc...
